Introduction to hallmarks

In goldsmithing and jewelry, a hallmark is the official mark engraved on precious metal objects: gold, silver, or platinum, guaranteeing their fineness and origin.

For example, a gold jewel often bears a “750” hallmark, meaning 75% gold... a silver piece bears a “925” hallmark, indicating that the object is made from 92.50% silver...

There is also a manufacturer's hallmark or maker's mark, as well as a guarantee hallmark, affixed by the State...

As part of the exhibition preceding our July sale, we are offering an introduction to hallmarks, by reservation, on Friday at 2:30 p.m.

Before the summer holidays begin, we are delighted to present our sale on July 9.

We hope you will enjoy discovering our selection of jewelry, silverware collections, including goblets; heliogravures by Aman-Durand (1831-1905); Orientalist paintings, or beautiful more modern paintings to treat yourself; sumptuous and rare sculptures that we are particularly proud to present; a few trinkets from different periods, including a magnificent Empire clock, and finally some very good wine (Beychevelle, Pontet Canet, Montrose, etc.).

We remain at your disposal for any further information and would like to point out that you can bid on site, by telephone, leave us your purchase orders, or, for an additional fee, on Drouot Live and Invaluable.
Private sales are also available after our auctions or based on your searches.

In anticipation of the new season, we are already preparing our next auctions: a beautiful mixed sale with a few men's watches, and a collection of perfumes, beauty items, and fashion items in the fall.
