VIENNA (?), GROUP, "Le rapt d'Europe", late 19th century Enameled white porcelain bisque. The famous representation of the theme of Jupiter's abduction, according to Ovid's Metamorphoses, II, 833-875, is here that of a young girl gathering flowers and forming garlands with which she adorns her future, in fact Jupiter in the form of a white bull. At their feet, a putto offers flowers on a mound representing part of a meadow. H. 43 cm. Underglaze mark in blue Accident to the bull's toupee and Europe's right ankle. Expert: Anne LAJOIX
